Fortified citadel and an Early City of the Qutb Shahi dynasty (c. 1512–1687), Golconda Fort, known as Golkonda (in Telugu as: “Shepherd Hill”), is in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. Golconda flourished as a commercial centre for large diamonds known as Golconda diamonds due to the proximity of diamond mines and especially of the Kollur Mine.
