Andaman Tourism Update: SOP’s for Tourism and Activities

  • South Andaman, North Andaman, and Middle Andaman are the only districts where tourism activities are allowed, with the exception of Nicobar.
  • In addition, persons over 65, those with chronic illnesses, pregnant women and children under 10 are advised not to travel for tourism.
  • As a result of their medical history, tourists/visitors at higher risk should take extra precautions.
  • As much as possible, tourists/visitors should limit their contact with other staff and visitors. At all tourist destinations, a “zero contact” policy should be followed.
  • During their stay and movements, all tourists/visitors shall be briefed by the hotel concerned about the do’s and don’ts that must be followed.
  • Visitors and tourists should wear a face mask and carry their own hand sanitizer and wet wipes while travelling.
  • Visitors and tourists must download the Aarogya Setu App before they arrive.
  • There should be strict compliance with respiratory etiquettes. This involves using a tissue handkerchief or flexed elbow to cover one’s mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, and disposing of used tissues properly after use.
  • At the Port Blair airport, all tourists and visitors must undergo a free Covid-19 screening and RTPCR test. They are then allowed to check into their hotels. In the meantime, they will be quarantined in their hotel rooms in Port Blair until the results of the RTPCR tests are known.
  • A positive test result for RTPCR will require tourists/visitors to be quarantined at hotels designated by the Hoteliers Association, in accordance with A&N Administration policy, at a specified rate, or transferred to a designated hospital/Covid 19 care facility on a case-by-case basis.

As Andaman is Open for Tourism now so here are the updates for Tourists.

Number of tourists/visitors accepted at National Memorial Cellular Jail, Port Blair timing will be limited, as per details given below.

Museums

Timing & Visitors Allowed

There are 2 time slots

  • 9am to 1pm
  • 1pm to 4pm

Before 1pm 350 tourists are allowed (1st slot) & 300 tourists in (2nd slot)

Light & Sound Show

There are 2 time slots

  • 05:20pm to 06:10pm
  • 06:40pm to 07:30pm

250 Tourists allowed per show time


Things to be taken care of:

  • Only www.andamantourism.gov.in/etourist will be able to issue electronic tickets.
  • There are strict social distancing norms that must be followed by the tourist/visitors.
  • The use of a face mask is required.
  • Entrance will require mandatory hand washing and thermal scanning of all tourists/visitors.
  • As they enter and exit the monument, tourists/visitors must strictly adhere to the designated pathways.
  • To restrict access to any part of the museum, the department has the authority to do so.
  • Observe the time limits/slots set for tourists and visitors.
  • The security personnel are on hand to ensure that the monument is never crowded.
  • In the building, group photography is not permitted.
  • The memorial will not be accessible to vehicles parked in front of it.
    Only designated parking areas will be available.
  • Guides who are registered will be allowed to work only inside the museum’s walls.
    During the guided tour, each guide will have a maximum of four guests.
  • The monument/premises will not allow food or eatables inside.
  • In the monument, spitting and smoking are strictly prohibited.
  • Waste should not be dumped inside the monument by tourists/visitors.
  • Avoid crowding at the drinking water and restroom areas.
  • Be sure to follow all of the respiratory etiquette rules! A tissue, handkerchief or bent elbow is used to cover the mouth and nose while coughing/sneezing, and used tissues are disposed of in a proper manner after use.

What will happen once you reach the Port Blair Airport

A negative COVID-19 test report from a mainland ICMR-approved lab is required for tourists (RTPCR). It is important to note that the RTPCR test sample should have been taken no more than 48 hours before departure from the origin station. RTPCR test samples should not have been taken before 0600 hrs. on 30 August 2021, for example.

On arrival at Port Blair Airport, all tourists/visitors must undergo a free Covid-19 screening and RTPCR test. Tourism/visitors are then allowed to check-in at their hotels.
In the meantime, they will be quarantined in their hotel rooms in Port Blair until the results of the RTPCR tests are known. According to the Hoteliers Association’s agreement with the A&N Administration, tourists/visitors with positive RTPCR test results will be quarantined in hotels designated by the Hoteliers Association, on a case-by-case basis, or transferred to a designated hospital/Covid-19 care centre.

In addition, A&N Administration may require tourists to submit to random Rapid Antigen Tests on a payment basis from time to time as prescribed.


What if you are found positive?

Firstly, do not panic and everything is fine and safe for your health concern.

It is mandatory that a tourist who tests positive while on the islands undergo institutional isolation according to existing health protocols. Tourists will be responsible for the cost of such isolation for government facilities, as determined by the administration from time to time.

All of the following conditions must be met for the patient to stay in a hotel:

  • No symptoms and no older than 60 years old.
  • A written request or commitment is made by the patient.
    doctors.
  • lf is permitted by doctors.

As part of this process, hotels will designate a portion of their rooms as institutionally isolated.

Is test necessary RTPCR & RAT to move around Andaman island | Havelock Island | Neil Island?

On payment of applicable fees, tourists are permitted to visit Baratang/North & Middle Andaman, subject to mandatory RAT testing for Andaman Trunk Road commuters, which will be conducted at Forest check post on the spot.

For travelling to Havelock Island, Neil Island you will have to undergo RAT test at the jetty ( Harbour) and then you will able to sail and travel to the island. And to come back from Havelock Island and Neil Island return Port Blair you have to undergo RAT Test.

RAT test is not free it may cost INR 100/- to INR 500/- per head.
